Performance of Sweet Corn Farming in Margaharja Village, Sukadana District, Ciamis Regency

The increase demand for corn in general is due to increased demand from the feed industry, direct consumption, and the food processing industry. The existence of high demand on the one hand is an opportunity for farmers to try it, but the other hand it is a challenge considering that structural weaknesses are still inherent in farmers. This research aims to analyze the performance of sweet corn farming in Margaharja Village, Sukadana District, Ciamis Regency. The type of research used in this research is quantitative research. The method used in this research is a case study of sweet corn farmers in Margaharja, Sukadana District, Ciamis Regency. The research location was determined purposively with the consideration that it is one of the corn centers in Ciamis Regency. The data used is primary data obtained through observation and structured interviews using previously prepared questionnaires. Apart from that, secondary data was also used which was obtained through literature reviews and documentation studies from departments and agencies related to this research. A total of 15 sweet corn farmers were taken as samples determined using saturated samples (total sampling). The research objectives were analyzed descriptively using cost, revenue and income analysis. The research results show that the performance of sweet corn farming as measured by the average total costs incurred by farmers is IDR 13,439,875 per hectare. The average revenue earned by farmers is IDR 19,808,727 per hectare, and the average income is IDR 6,458,852 per hectare. Based on this sweet corn farming in Margaharja Village, Sukadana District, Ciamis Regency can be said to be profitable for farmers.
