The Web-based Expert System For Diagnosing Deviations in Child Growth and Development Using the Certainty Factor Method

Abstract

Growth and development of children is the most important aspect in one's life. This sets the foundation for the next life. However, some parents, especially those with low levels of education and low socioeconomic levels, do not understand the important records of children's development. Parents have known deviations in child development since the child was born, but usually receive little attention and are left alone so that the condition becomes severe. Currently, the rapid development of scientific technology can help the community and health workers in dealing with this problem. One such technology is an expert system that can diagnose and treat child development deviations. This system mimics the intelligence of a pediatrician in making diagnoses of diseases, which then helps find conclusions about diseases and appropriate treatment. This expert system was developed using PHP with the CodeIgniter framework as a programming language, MySQL as a system management database, and certainty factor as a method.
